Buffalo AirStation WHR-G54S

I just had a bad experience from the Linksys WRT54Gv5 that I got as a present from my wife. After a few months of operation, it suddenly went nuts.

After an hour of operation, it would suddenly disconnect from the internet. It would not let me surf websites, check my email, or anything else that I usually do that requires me to be connected. Firware updates turned out not to be the solution either. As the warranty from the store we bought it was only 6 months and the router is on its 9th, I’m stuck with a broken product.

Needing a wireless router now that I have a laptop (which travels around the house whenever I’m home), I went to the shop to find a replacement. Upon careful consideration, I arrived at getting one with a brand name familiar to me when I was working in Japan.

Rising Cases of Laptop Theft

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve read in several forums that somebody’s laptop had been stolen. Just to illustrate, try searching PhilMUG with the keyword “stolen”. You will get several results of threads talking about this issue — the most common occurrence being the laptop was stolen from inside a car that is left on a parking area of a mall or building.

Makes me think of not bringing my laptop wherever I go. I don’t feel safe anymore.

The iPhone: Just A Few More Days To Wait

It doesn’t have 3G. It has a farily ordinary 2 Megapixel camera. It doesn’t have Java support. It doesn’t have removable memory card support.

But it has a very attractive touch screen interface. It’s got a pretty display. It has a hard drive built-in. The overall package looks elegant. It supports external applications through Safari. It supports iTunes.

Oh, so much love and hate has been generated by this product ever since it was introduced early this year at MacWorld. Yet the final verdict as to whether this product is a success or a bust will be known a few days from now — June 29, 6pm.
