Do you know that Firefox has this hidden configuration page where you can modify almost every setting available?
- Open up Firefox, and in the address bar, type in
about:config. - In the filter text box, type in
network.http. - Locate
network.http.pipeliningand double click it. The value will change from false to true. - Locate
network.http.proxy.pipeliningand double click it. A dialog box will open. Input a numeric value (308 will suffice). Click on OK to close the dialog box. - Restart Firefox.
Now, you will notice that pages would load faster.

I looked this up before doing it, as I was worried in case it was going to cause people problems like FasterFox.
According to egonitron.com anything over 8 for the pipelining value is a waste.
This isn’t really my area of expertise, so I don’t know who is right, but it might be worth bearing in mind.

First, thank you for replying to my blog.
I’ve read the site you’ve linked to, and did further research.
Firefox (FF) indeed caps the pipelining requests to 8, as dictated by the HTTP spec. This means that even though we set the value to 30, FF would still send no more than 8 requests at a time. The blog you cited is correct with this.
I’ll place a note in the blog post about this. Thank you again for the heads-up.
