That’s a mobile device that has Bluetooth 1.2, 802.11b, IrDA, and supports 900/1800/1900MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE.

The catch? No HSDPA, nor 3G UMTS. Which is why I’m surprised enough to even write about it here on my blog!

On the two weeks that I have been tinkering with my phone, I noticed that there were several factors that considerably affected its battery life. There were times that after 2 days the battery has less than 25% charge left in it, and there were times that a day has finished and only less than 10% of the charge has been used. This afternoon we went to my parents’ house to celebrate the feast of the Holy Child (Santo Nino). As with all Filipino Catholic feasts, there’s lots of food and celebration until the wee hours of the morning. I was also there for another purpose. My sister’s PC got infected with spyware and she asked me to clean things for her. With that came the idea of upgrading the firmware of my new phone.

The last thing that happened last week was one that I didn’t expect. It was a Friday then.

On my way to work I listen to podcasts and music on my PSP, like I do since I had it last month. I held my mobile phone, a Motorola V3i, on my hand and had it set on vibrate mode so that I could feel when somebody’s calling me. When I got in front of the building where our company office is located I placed the phone on my lap, put back the PSP on my bag, and hurriedly jumped out of the FX taxi.
