Roaming around the web as I do when I pass time at home, this blog had an entry that gave me the shivers. It tells about how some crafty crooks could get away with your money.

This made me recall an incident that I experienced a few months ago while on the ATM machine in BPI’s branch in front of Pure Gold Tayuman (in Tondo). I inquired how much my account had, and withdrew some money so that my wife and can go buy our supplies in the nearby supermarket. The machine whirred, which was that usual sound when it dispenses money. Alas, no money was in the slot, although the screen says that I should be getting my money. To make the story short, my account got debited without me getting the money I withdrew! I immediately reported this to their customer hotline (89-100), and got a reference number to follow up on things. After calling support, I tried to check the machine again. To my surprise, the slot where the machine dispenses money has A PVC TUBE STUCK LENGTHWISE! Somebody must have placed it there so that later when nobody’s looking, they could remove the tube and pry out all the money stuck in there!

Gosh, what other people will do for money… Really disappointing.

Wow, I never expected you’d take the time to read my blog. I guess I should thank you for that.

As disappointing this may seem, it’s not the end of the world for me. Neither is it cause for hiding in a PC. This just means that there’s a lot more work to do, a lot more challenges to face. A lot more things to consider than just the task at hand.

By the way, I got the debited amount back the following morning. :)
